Educational Technology and Copyright Law

  • Copyright is a federal law that protects any original literary, written, artistic, or any other type of work.
  • All original work is copyrighted immediately.
  • You do not need any paperwork to copyright something.
  • Using copyrighted works for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research is not an infringement of copyright. It's fair use.
  • In classroom projects it is okay to use an image from the internet.
